In Mauritius there are two types of universities, private as well as government. Though the government universities have negligible fee, whereas the fees of private universities are little expensive.  Once you have decided to study in any of the above universities then the cost varies from university and its location.  Private International Universities start from as low as USD 1,500.

  1. Tuition fee– Your expenditure on tuition fee depends on the type of qualification and the university or college you opt for.  For example; every international university branches from a different country such as Middlesex University from UK and Curtin Mauritius from Australia. Therefore the average fee structure is :
    Vocational Education and Training (Certificates I to IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) – $1,700 -$4,500

Undergraduate Bachelor Degree – $6,000 – $12,000  – annually

Postgraduate Master’s Degree – $6,700 – $15,000 annually

  1. Visa Procedure

Mauritius requires that the institution in which a student is enrolled will apply to the Passport and Immigration Office (PIO) in Mauritius for the visa on the student’s behalf. The application process takes 2-3 weeks. Once the application has been approved, the PIO issues permission for provisional entry permit valid for three months to enable them to travel to Mauritius. Once the student is in Mauritius, they are required to do a series of medical checks (stool and urine samples, chest x-ray and blood samples) to ensure that the student is not suffering from any contagious diseases specifically, HIV, Hepatitis B or chest infection.

3.Accommodation costs and cost of living

The expenditure of studying and living in Mauritius is comparatively low to countries like Australia, US, UK, France, Canada, etc. as the Mauritian currency conversion is advantageous. Comparisons of studying and living cost in Mauritius for a typical student suggest an expenditure level 3 to 5 times lower than in countries like the US, UK, Australia, Canada or France. Mauritius has a decent cost of living that starts from US $ 275 monthly. Additionally, students benefit from free public health services.

  1. Transportation costs

Students are eligible to get a student bus pass for their daily commuting route. The bus pass costs around USD 8 for an academic year. However, the students are at liberty to use Taxi services that start from USD 3.
